A Message from the Ombuds
Hello! My name is Diana Greene, and I am the Dane County Employee Ombuds. If you are visiting this site, you are likely experiencing a challenge in the workplace or know someone who is. I am here to assist you in generating and understanding your options without taking the agency of decision making away from you.
The Ombuds office is confidential, informal, impartial, and independent. What does that mean?
Confidential: Simply put, I will not share anything you tell me without your permission, and I will never pressure you to disclose anything you tell me.
Informal: The Ombuds Office is not a required step of any formal process. I do not investigate and I cannot accept notice on behalf of the county. I do not keep records of meetings, however written communication may be subject to open records requests.
Impartial: The Ombuds functions as an impartial, neutral, and unbiased resource. The Ombuds fairly and objectively considers issues and people who may be affected. The Ombuds promotes equitably administered processes but does not advocate on behalf of any visitor or entity.
Independent: I am not an employee of the County. The Ombuds is independent in appearance, purpose, practice, and decision-making. The Ombuds operates independently of line of staff reporting structures and without influence from other function or entities within the organization.
